February has been an interesting month. Dad decided that the shop in PCB wasn’t working out like he wanted so he decided to come home. So this meant that he was coming back to the shop. Business at the shop hasn’t been great and getting paychecks was tough some weeks, so Dad and I decided that it would be best if he came back to work at the shop and I would move on. This was a tough decision but we all felt it was the right thing to do.
That weekend Paige called me and told me that her sister in law’s company was hiring and they said I should apply, so on Monday morning I did. I heard back from them and had an interview the following Wednesday. I went for the interview and felt like it went well. It was with April (my brother in law’s sister) and Carrie (Brandt’s mom). Feeling pretty good, they told me that they were looking to hire people in the next month or 2 to get a group ready for training. I left with that in my mind, but I got a phone call about 2 hours after I left and Carrie offered me the job. There was a catch; I had to start training on Monday (4 days later!!!) While I was blown away that I was offered the job there were several questions and things that had to fall into place to make it work. I called Dad to see if he could be here in that time and he told me to do what ever I felt was the right thing for me and my family, so I took the job.
It’s a company called StartCHURCH, and that’s exactly what
we do. We worth with Churches mostly, but other non profit organizations and we
complete their State and Federal level paperwork to get them and keep them
compliant. I am working with the Phase 1
team doing the state paperwork. While I have no experience with this, they had
a extensive 2 week training class that we went through and they are continuing
the training even now that we are working in our positions. I think this is
going to be a great move for me. My hours are 9-5 and we have insurance
benefits so that is great! Everyone there had been really nice and welcoming.
It’s great to work for a Christian company that keeps those values in everyday
work. It is hard not being at the shop
and not working with Dad (it was 9 years that I worked there). Dad is falling
into his new role and doing fine.
On the JV front, he is getting ready for his mission trip
coming up. They are leaving April 1st. This will be his third trip
and he is really excited. His parents are going along with his sister Laura and
her youngest son Corey this year so that will be a great addition to their
team. Please keep them in your prayers for the next few weeks for a successful
and safe trip!!!
On the Aly front, she is doing great!!! We got her signed up
for Pre K for next year at Great Beginnings Daycare that is right by our house
so that’s going to make transportation really easy when that starts in August.
We went to Charleston
to see Paige and Brandt a few weekends ago for Asher’s birthday and we had a
great time. Other then that we have just been chugging along. This move with
the job has been a pretty big deal and has been taking a lot of our time and
thoughts.
We hope this finds all you well and please keep us in your
prayers, as they are always needed.
