We Have News!!!

We Have News!!!!
Well its been a long time coming but JV and I are finally going to add another precious baby to our family!!! We are so so so excited.  My due date right now is some time in January, around the 23rd, but they keep changing it so we will see.
I found out the day after Mother’s day (another weird coincidence, I found out I was pregnant with Aly on Oct. 27th which was the day after mom died and then with this one the day after mothers day, its nice to have an angel looking out for me!)

I have had a very different pregnancy this time compared to last. I was sick from about week 3 till 14, just about everyday. I still am sometimes but it is much better. The sleepiness wasn’t as bad this first trimester though. I’ve had the same sinus issues as last time, but I have been using peppermint oil and that has really been helping.
Right now I am 20 weeks, ½ way there! We have decided to find out what we are having for a few reasons. Aly was really against the idea of having a brother and I was really worried that if she came to the hospital to meet her new brother she would be disappointed and with her age, I really didn’t want her to remember it that way. She has come around and she is ok with either now but still really wants a sister. Also with it being right after the holidays, we are going to be crunched for time getting everything ready so it would be nice to have that done. Lastly, I’m not getting full paid maternity leave a work so I will be doing a lot from home and couldn’t really deal with the stress of not having the nursery done too, and besides it was my turn to decided this time and I just want too!  J
I go to the dr. on Sept 9, we will have them write down what it is and put it in an envelope. On Oct. 12 when the Deegan’s are in town we are going to have a get together and all find out together what we are having. JV’s family will all be out of town then, but we will do something special to tell them the news as well the following week. It was hard to get a day when everyone was here and I really wanted to do something fun to find out. I have a friend at work who is making us a pink or blue cake and we will let Aly cut it and see!!!
We are so excited for what’s coming for our family and looking forward to finding out if we are adding a brother or sister for miss Aly.

August 2013

Aly Started Pre-K

August was a super busy and important month for us. Aly started Pre-K Aug. 7 this year. She is going to Great Beginnings right here by the house. It was really sad dropping her off on the Tuesday before at Shannon’s for the last time. I cried a little when I left. Shannon and her whole family have been such a huge, positive influence on Aly’s life and it was hard to know that was coming to an end. While we were excited for this new chapter in Aly’s life it was sad at the same time.

We had Aly’s open house the week before and met her teachers and got to see her room. They had all the kids go in the room to play while the parents had a meeting outside, and big surprise Aly was the only one screaming, but the teachers handled it well and before we knew it she was playing and having a blast. We knew this was going to be a hard transition for her because she hadn’t been around that many kids he age with out me or Shannon so it was going to be interesting.

Her first day of school went pretty well. She did cry when I dropped her off and it was hard to leave her crying but I called around 9:00 and Ms. Nicole said she was doing great and having a blast. She goes to the back building at the center for after care and that was another big hurdle for her and she didn’t want to leave her new teachers when she finally got comfortable with them for another new place.

Now that we are over a month in, she is loving it and doing so great. She still cries on random days but has so much fun. They do a lot of singing because she comes home each day with a new song (days of the week, seasons of the year, months of the year, 5 senses, etc). She is learning so much. Just about every day when we are home she is playing school with her imaginary friends and she is the teacher and she goes through her whole day at school, so I feel like I know pretty much everything that she does. They had told us at orientation that most kids don’t show educational progression till Jan. or so but I feel that Aly is just soaking it all up and makes me so happy to see her developing. She did tell me the other morning that she wants to be a teacher when she grows up. It amazes me that she is already thinking like that. Where did my baby go??

We also had another pretty big deal; we cut Aly’s hair, A lot! We cut about 5 inches off. She wanted to but cried at first and then she was ok. Its super cute but still wants to be wavy like mine so we have to straighten it a little in the mornings but its much easier to deal with then all the curls!!

Beach Vacation 2013 Hilton Head Island

Beach Trip 2013

Hilton Head Island July 6-13

So we had to delay our beach trip for a few weeks this year because of sport activities. Maddy was playing All-Star softball this year and couldn’t miss the tournaments. We were able to see some of her games and we had a blast watching them.

Any way back to the beach, we went to Hilton Head this year (which is my favorite) and had a great time. The weather here wasn’t so great leading up to that so we were not sure what we were going to get but it was perfect. We had 1 day of good wind and had to make it a short day but that was ok.

We ate lots of good food, played games at night and had a great time on the beach. We got to have our sibling dinner out again which is always fun, we went to big bamboo, Wal-Mart and to the lobby of the resort and played games. We were taking advantage of all the kid free time we had. Grammie and Grandpa kept the kids and they watched the Wizard of OZ( I don’t think they were able to finish it but they tried).

Several of us went down to the beach to go night swimming on Thursday night and after about 20 mins in the water Corey got stung by a jelly fish, such a bummer, but he was ok and handled it well. The next day at the beach John got stung too. At that point I think most of us were done with the water. In all the years of beach trips I’m surprised it didn’t happen sooner. But good news is everyone is ok!

We had a great trip as usual. We only got one condo this year (the 2nd reservation didn’t come through because of the time of year) so we got an additional hotel room down the street and the Munhall’s stayed there at night. It really was a weird place and we probably won’t do that again, but it worked. We had a lot of people in one room but everyone got along great, especially the kids. They are all so great with Aly and keeping her included which makes for a nice vacation for JV and I as well.
