May 2013

May was another good month. We had a lot of things going on. Aly got her first real hair cut at the end of April. We only cut about 2 inches off, but we were just trying to make it more manageable in the morning with the curles, but they all came back so it didn't really work!

Aly also had her last day of Gymnastics at the little gym. The did a whole show and MiMi and Papa came to watch her do all her stunts. She was really shy and cried at first (which really wasn't a surprise to me b/c she cried every time) but then she did really great! I was really impressed with the Little gym and what they do for the little ones.

We had a wonderful Mothers Day Celebration at the Manderscheids. We all had appetizers, a fun pineapple sangria and a fun sugar cookie bar for dessert. Alice decorated a beautiful table with blue and yellow accents. It was a great day. Aly got me one of the casserole dishes I had been wanting and made me the best card at Church. We were so full from lunch we didn't do much for dinner, but Dad had brought over a few steaks so we cooked those later in the week. John and Alice did the sweetest thing for me. I had mentioned a few weeks ago that my mom had a set of dishes a long time ago. They were white and had these fall colored flowers on them. Alice has the same set too. For mothers day she found me a set online and gave them to me for mothers day! I couldn't believe it. I had looked for them before but couldn't find them. It meant so much to me that she would do that for me and the dishes mean a lot too. Its one of those precious memories of my mom that I will never forget. She also placed pictures on the table of our kids when they were babies, it was a nice touch to the table.

We made it to Charleston again to visit with the Deegan's. We drove up on Friday and then found out that Alex had strep throat, so we decided to stay in a hotel that night so he could get some medicine in his system and get some sleep. We met up the next morning and the Charleston Birds of Pray. We did a tour with the guides and learned about all the large birds of prey. Aly and Asher were not super excited but when they let us into this open field and the birds started flying around they all loved it. The birds were really neat. I think the kids were just excited to see each other.

We were able to make it to the beach on Sunday. It was super crowded but we still had a great time. The water was pretty cold so we didn't spend much time in the ocean but the kids had a blast playing in the sand.

We had a date night and we went to play putt putt and then to dinner. It has been a while since any of us played putt putt but it was a lot of fun!

Not much else has changed with us. Aly is ready for Mo Mo and Ethan to be out of school so she can spend the summer with them!
