Myrtle Beach 2012

Myrtle Beach 2012 (May 26-June 2)

This year for the Manderscheid Vacation we went to Myrtle beach South Carolina. It was about a 6 ½ hour drive so not bad at all. We all hit the road Saturday morning and met up in SC for lunch. JV and I got to drive a rental car this year. We are switching paint companies at work so the new company agreed to paint my truck all over to demo the new paint and they paid for my rental car as well. We got a 2013 Ford Edge. It is really nice but a little small. We played some team trivia on our phones on the way up there and back so that made the trips go faster.

            Any who, we got to Myrtle around 3:00pm Saturday afternoon and this is when everyone else realized it was Sport Bike week in Myrtle Beach. I had a customer that came in a week before and told me but we decided to keep it a secret for a bit, LOL. Traffic was pretty insane and there were bikes everywhere. We got lots of jokes out of the bikers and all their female passengers who were not wearing enough clothing (that’s the nicest way to put it). Luckily they all left on Monday so things calmed down a good bit after that.

            There was a Tropical Storm bruing off the coast so we were not sure how much it was going to effect us. On Sunday we went to the beach and the waves were crazy. The kids had fun but in the early afternoon the lifeguards put up the red flag and we had to get out of the water all together. This decision was fine with Aly because she did not like anything to do with the beach. The sand was hot; she was dirty and didn’t like the water! We were kind of surprised because she had so much fun last year we thought this year would be the same L.  On Monday we decided to have a little more pool time in the afternoon so we were able to bribe her with that so she cooperated at the beach in the morning. She made little steps all week getting use to it and by Friday she was doing well, just in time to come home! She did love the pool though. We had a full pool day on Wednesday because we were suppose to get some rain in the afternoon and we didn’t want to hall everything to the beach and not get good use of it and that turned out to be a great day too! They had a waterslide there and Aly went down it a few times with JV and Austin and had fun!!! By Friday she was jumping in the water and going under and holding her breath (she was wearing her life jacket but was doing really well at swimming).

            We ate some great food too. We went out all together Sunday and Monday night. Then Tuesday us and the Munhall’s ate in. Then on Wednesday John and Alice kept the kids and the rest of us went out for dinner and a walk on the beach. Thursday and Friday we went to dinner again as a group.

            All the kids were so good. Aly had one melt down, but all the other kids were so helpful with her!!!

            We had such a great time and we are so looking forward to next year already!!! We are hoping to maybe get to the beach one more time this year. Between Dad in Panama City and Paige and Brandt moving to Charleston hopefully we can make that happen.

            On another quick note, JV and I are final got the backyard done at the house. It has been kind of a mess for several years now but they finished up on Tuesday. It looks so great! We are hoping to have Aly’s birthday party at the house to show it off! We are so excited!. We are looking forward to having a nice back yard to play in!!!!

I am uploading all the pictures to snapfish from the beach so and some are on Facebook. There are just to many to post on here and this uploader is kind of slow. I only took about 650 so that would take a while ( I think I got it down to about 400 when I took out the bad ones, hehe, I LOVE MY CAMERA!!!)
