Aly's 2 Year old Check up

Well, what can I say? It was the most difficult experience as a parent I have had yet. Me and Aly went to the dr. this morning for her 2 year old check. We were in the waiting room and she was great, then as we went back to the room, she lost her marbles! She always freaks out when they weigh her for some reason but it didn't stop there today. We are talking banging her head on the table, slapping the wall, red faced screaming, I had never seen anything like it. The nurse just talked over her for a while but then had to physically hold her down to get her measurements. I felt absolutely helpless, there was nothing I could do or say to make her stop, it was so out of character for her.

They gave us some alone time in the room for her to calm down before the dr. came in and it took about 20 mins of reading books and a lot of talking about how inappropriate it was, but we made it though. She got one shot in her leg and they pricked her finger to check her cholesterol and her iron and that came back good.

She weighs 26 lbs (50%) her height is 33" (25-50%) and her head circumference was in the 47% so she is good all around. We don't have to go back for another well check till she is 3 (thank goodness, I don't know if I could take it).

When we left the nurse was outside the room and she asked Aly for a hug and she did and told her bye and said she would be a good girl for mommy so she got a sucker and all was right with the world again!

Asher, Scout and Aly

On Sunday after church we all met at the Manderscheid house and celebrated our July birthdays. Paige, Brandt, Alex, Asher, Dad, Aunt Cheryl, and all the Manderscheid clan was there (except DJ, he was in Ohio). We ate some wonderful appetizers for lunch and the kids all ate pizza for Aly’s party. Dad had made a flower box for one of our friends and in return she made Aly a Minnie Mouse cake for her party! It was so great!!! All the kids and some of the adults swam for a while and we just had a great day.

Aly really enjoyed opening all her presents this year, She was actually interested in the presents and not just the box’s this year. Dora the Explorer and Minnie mouse was the theme of the year. She got some clothes, another pillow pet, lots of Dora books, movies, coloring books and a few other toys (she’s not spoiled or anything).

We put the kids down for naps around 3:30pm (well Aly and Alex went down but Asher had other plans) and left for the Sugar Hill fire works around 7:00pm. We got there pretty early and all the kids and Adults played games until it was time for the show. The fireworks were amazing (way better the Stone Mountain's ever were) Aly was a little scared at first but once she got in Auntie’s lap she was just fine. She was talking to Auntie the whole time "ohhhh, pretty!" Alex and Asher both really enjoyed them too (along with all the other kids). It made for a long day but it was a great one spending it with Family!

On Monday we were all pretty lazy and recovering from the late night before. Paige and Brandt and Dad came over in the after noon and we had a mini cookout at our house. Dad made ribs and we had burgers, potato salad, coleslaw and hot dogs. As Paige and Brandt were leaving Alex fell and busted his lip open but he’s ok.

On Tuesday we all had to go back to work. Aly was so excited to see Noonie, MoMo, Ethan and Matt since they were on vacation last week. Since Tuesday was my actual birthday Dad let me leave work at 1 and I spend the afternoon shopping with my birthday money all by my self! It was really nice. Then JV made steaks and baked potatoes for dinner, Yummy!!! It was a really great and long weekend!!

Thank you all so much for everything you did to help us all have a wonderful birthday!!!

Auntie and Alice

All of us girls

As a surprise to Alice this year we planned a special birthday trip for just the girls. Auntie came into town on Wednesday night and surprised Alice on Thursday morning at her front door. Then on Thursday morning we (Alice, Auntie, Laura, Sharron and I) went to Melissa’s house for brunch. After that we all headed to Chateau Élan for our spa day!!! It was so great; we sat in the hot tub and drank cucumber water. Then we all had neck and back massages and then foot massages. It was such a wonderful experience; we ate cheese, talked, drank wine and just relaxed.

After Chateau Élan we had reservations at a bed in breakfast in Sautee GA, close to Helen. We arrived there around 7:30pm, got settled and had our picnic dinner. They had an amazing view so we ate outside on the large deck. We tried to watch a movie that night but that didn't work so we just talked for a while. Then Friday morning we ate breakfast and did a little local shopping in Sautee and in Helen. We had lunch at the Troll Tavern and the Funnel cakes.

It was such a great few days, We all really enjoyed it and it was great to get away and relax.
