Aly loves her shoes!

Day 3 of the snow storm being stuck inside "i'm going crazy with these people"

Aly loves Larley

Her newest addiction Lamie, she won't put him down!

Aly's new toy box Grandpa (paw paw) Eddie made her for Christmas
We have had a crazy start to the New Year. This cold bug has been floating from person to person and it seems when one of us gets better then another gets sick. But it seems that we are all on the mend finally.
Last week we had one of the biggest snow/ice storms I think I have ever seen or heard of in GA. So we were stuck at home all week. We finally ventured out of the house on Tuesday night and met the Deegan clan at Chilies’ for dinner so it was nice to get out of the house. On Thursday JV went back to work but I stayed home with Aly for one more day. Then on Friday she went to Mimi’s for the day and to spend the night so we could have a night out. JV and I went to Bonefish Grill and had dinner with our Christmas gift cards then we went out for DJ’s 30th birthday. There is actually still some places that have snow and it’s been over a week, its been crazy. We are hoping that work picks up with the storm once everyone recovers from being off all week.
Well it’s about that time for Aly to do something to scare me again so she did. On Monday night we were all playing in the living room and she was eating some Gold Fish (or bowl bish as she calls them) and she started to choke on one. She started to turn blue a little and I freaked out. I was hitting her on the back and trying to get it out of her mouth but couldn’t. She was so scared. Finally after what felt like forever but was probably 30 seconds she coughed it up and was ok. Needless to say the next day JV and I did a refresher course on babycenter on toddler first aid. I know what to do with a baby and an older child but not her age so it was pretty scary for a minute. She reached for the gold fish again after just a minute so she recovered quickly but I don’t think we will be eating gold fish for a while.
Aly is a talking machine or Parrot as we call her. She amazes me everyday. She actually already knows about half the alphabet (and reads billboards signs as we are going down the road). We have some fridge letters and you can ask her “Aly where is the E?” and she will find it along with many others. Her Mimi and Paw Paw (hehe) have been working with her on the alphabet and it is working. She’s starting to recognize colors also, Yellow is her favorite right now. She is also getting better at letting me brush her teeth. We have struggled with this for a while but its getting better. She still only has 5 that have come through but there are 4 others that we can see white they just haven’t poked through yet. I’m still thinking that one morning we are going to wake up and she’s going to have a full mouth of teeth.
She seems to be getting back into her good sleeping habit at night. After being sick and sleeping in our bed it took a few nights of letting her cry for a bit but she has been doing really good. She’s transitioning to 1 nap from 2 so its been kind of a roller coaster during the day but she will get it. I have learned not to freak out about things like that because she always seems to figure it out at some point.
I took Aly to the Dr. yesterday for her 18 month check up (I was a little late, I totally forgot J bad mommy) but Aly weighs 23.14 lb, I didn’t get the percentages but she did say that was a little under the average, her height is 31 ¾” and her head circumference is 18 ½”. Everything looked great. The Dr. was great with her (although we had to wait an hour in that room to see her). Dr. Chandler was really impressed with Aly’s vocabulary. She asked what fruit’s Aly liked and so I asked Aly and she said “apple” she really liked that. Then she asked Aly if mommy put her in her car seat and buckled her up nice and tight and Aly shook her head No, hehe (of course I do). She did have to get one shot in her leg and she gets one at her 2 year old check up.
Well that’s about all for now from the Manderscheid group. We are doing great and feel very blessed for everything we have!!!! We love you all!!!
