Aly, she's so cute!

Feb. has been a great month, but other then our exciting night with the paramedics it has been pretty uneventful. The little girl is growing like a weed. She is still having problems sleeping but the past few nights have been a little bit better so hopefully we are on to something. We stopped giving her baby food at night and are just doing rice and we are making it a little cooler in her room and between the 2 something is working!!!

Aly had her 2nd flu shot on the 23rd. Jv took her and she didn't cry at all (we until I took the band aid off). She started to get a little runny nose but it was over quick!!!

We did go out in the snow and she wasn't really sure what to think of it. She was doing ok till it touched her leg, then she was done!!!

She wants to walk so bad and all she wants to do is stand. She doesn't seem to get the crawling thing just yet, but it won't be long!!!

Aly has a new cousin, Harlan Asher. He was born on Monday Feb. 22 around 3:45pm. He has to spend some time in the NCIU because he has some fluid in his lungs but we are hoping that he gets to come home soon!!

Well thats about all for now!!! Hope you are having a wonderful 2010 so far!!!

Love,
JV, Amy and Aly

Eventful night

Well I wanted to just let everyone know what happened at home last night so this is the best way.

JV plays soccer on Wednesday night and after he left I was giving Aly her bath. Well all the sudden she started screaming like crazy and I noticed that her right eye was all red and was starting to swell up. She was flailing all around kicking her legs and shaking her arms, I was starting to freak out. So I sat her up and was trying to wash it out thinking that she got some soap in it (even though it says tear free I now disagree) so she was rubbing it and screaming and I couldn't get to it. So I pulled her out of the tub and took her into her room and she was still screaming, even more at this point and she wouldn't open her eye. So I call JV and tell him he needs to come home because I don't know what to do and I'm thinking we need to go to the ER because she is having a reaction to something. Well about 10 seconds later she started gasping for air, so at that point I called 911. I told the lady what was going on and I picked Aly up and went into the living room. Right after I picked her up she started to calm down and her breathing was starting to calm down too. I was still on the phone with the 911 operator and I told her that her breathing was better it must of been from her screaming like that but she wanted to still send the paramedics anyway just to check. So I called JV back and told him that they would probably be there when he got back but that she was OK. The fire station is only about 1/4 of a mile from the house so it only took them about 2-3 mins. When they came in her eye was still really red but her breathing was OK. They listened to her lungs and checked her out and said she was OK. They went over a few things to look for if she was having a reaction and she was not showing those signs. I didn't change any of her soaps or anything so I couldn't figure out what it would have been. He also asked if the clean water I got to wash her eye out was cold, I honestly couldn't remember, but he said that could of also scared her if it was cold and added to the screaming.

I can honestly say I have never been that scared in my whole life. My biggest fear was that the hospital is about 20mins away at best and if she is having problems breathing that was just to long and I didn't know what else to do. One of the medics asked me if this was my first and I said yes and he said he could tell but that it was fine that I called, he understood. I fed her her bedtime bottle and with in about 10 mins she was fine and her eye was staring to clear up. It defiantly took me longer to calm down then her. After I calmed down JV went back to his soccer game and I put her in the bed with me for a while so I could keep an eye on her. It was just so scary when she looked like she was struggling to breath.

She slept fine and was fine this morning so the only thing that I can think of is that she got soap in her eye and maybe her fingernail caught her eye when she was rubbing it. When I bath her I don't make an effort to keep the water out of her face, but I don't poor it over her face but I guess I will be a little more careful from now on!!
